The ones we got are YELLOW! Not a problem but they do jump out at you. I had several of the green ones that I liked. I run apartments and we went through a number of shovels in the DC snows this winter. I just got 10 of these. They aren't a super strong shovel. They break at the handle to shovel connection (I wish they'd put a bit more plastic in that area) and at least one of our older ones broke up the middle of the blade but they are relatively strong and light and they do the job.

After several snow storms the Sno-Tek 24" has proven to be a reliable, sturdy, and reasonably effective snow blower.

Pros:
Easy to start--usually on the first or second pull
Throws light to moderately weighted snow well
Engine is not excessively loud
Several forward speeds and 2 reverse speeds
Chute and impeller blades seldom clog with snow or ice

Cons:
Does not throw heavy or wet snow as well as expected

Of course, even though the Snow-Tek doesn't throw heavy or wet snow as well as expected, it's still much better than the alternative--shoveling! Overall, I am pleased with my purchase of the Sno-Tek 24" and would recommend it to a friend.

Ariens Professional ST28DLE (28") 420cc Two-Stage Snow Blower - 926038 Review

I have used Ariens blowers since I was a kid 40 years ago. My dad's was traded in when over 30 years old, so I know they last. The ST28DLE is my latest.

THE GOOD: It has a 15.5HP engine. I did 10" of very wet snow and it went through it at a very fast clip. It has a 14" impeller which means it moves a greater volume and throws it farther than about any other. It is powder-coated, so it is very rust-resistant. The build quality is so much better than any other blower. This may be why they last so long. Honda is built well, but not as heavily--and they are a lot more. Simplicity's mid and high end are very good and a good value, but I prefer the Ariens. It has a light and heated handles. It has a differential that allows you to turn it under power effortlessly. Ariens mid-line models allow you to uncouple power to either wheel, as Simplicity does, but it involves another lever to use while working. It is perfectly balanced on the wheels, and with the differential, it handles like a very small machine. My wife would have no problem using it.

THE BAD: It wasn't perfect as it came. There is a new cable controlled mechanism to unlock a pawl from the chute and then a rod rotates the chute anywhere you like it. It requires only one movement for 2 functions--pretty slick. I had a difficult time adjusting it. If the pawl released easily, it wouldn't engage, and the chute would not lock, meaning I had to hold it in position. I found that the torsion spring was not stiff enough to do the job in the real world. I went to the hardware store and got a 7/16 x 2" compression spring to slide over the chute end of the cable to provide additional pull, and it works with authority now.

OVERALL: The best snow blower I have ever used. It is a huge and powerful beast but handles better than a compact. There is no driveway that this will not clear. It will last forever. It has a good engine. One small problem I had--which would have annoyed the heck out of me, was easily fixed. I'm liking this better than any other snowblower I've used. If I had to pick another around the same price, I'd probably get a Simplicity Professional. I think this Ariens is the best!

Yeoman Co. 77030 Poly Scraper Review

The other review I read talked about durability after only making a few passes. That is not a fair way to rate durability. I owned an older model of this shovel for 6 years and it is still usable. This newer version is even sturdier, but they could afford to use some heavier hardware to keep the handle from rotating in the bracket if the pusher is being used to throw snow. The poly does wear as it is used but once the cutting edge is shaped the shovel glides over the surface with the cutting edge formed to the perfect angle that the user shovels at. About a 1/2 inch per year wears off of the blade. Every steel edged shovel I've ever used has worn out in a year (yes, I've replaced blades) and they always tend to catch every little crack and imperfection in the pavement. The poly edge goes right over the small cracks because it has a lot more surface area riding on the pavement. Even though it rides over the cracks, I've used this shovel to clear my driveway of ice 1/8" to 1/4" thick after an ice storm way faster than my neighbor with a steel shovel. I've shoveled my entire driveway, sidewalks and deck for 9 years (about 850 sq ft in WI) and even though the price makes me cringe a little, it is by far the most cost effective shovel I've ever used.
