Economy In-Ground Pool Solar Reel 17 ft. - 20 ft. Wide Review

This reel shows as taking weeks to deliver, fortunately for me it came in a couple days because it only had to go a 100 miles. I received 2 boxes, one with the crank mechanisms & attachment straps, the other with the aluminum pole. It will take some space to put this reel together and it's not for the faint of heart, it requires something like an impact driver or good cordless drill, and a few wrenches. The instructions were not awesome, but on the whole and after a number of reads they did provide most of the information needed to assemble the unit and attach the cover. Both a drill bit and hex driver were provided, a very unexpected and welcomed surprise! I happen to have an 18x36 freeform pool, I initially attached the unit to the end of my blanket which is not fitted yet, I quickly realized why the instructions suggest to attach the blanket in a middle section for such pools (you need to attach across the whole pole, meaning you must attach across a wide section in the middle). The unfortunate compromise is that this unit is quite light in weight, meaning you really need 2 people to successfully deploy or roll-up a blanket, I'm guessing this will improve somewhat when I fit and attach the blanket more toward the middle but then we'll have to figure out a mobile mechanism to roll the thing from over-top the pool. I think you could easily make or buy a set of casters so you can lift each end onto the caster to move easily enough.

On the whole I am very impressed and unexpectedly surprised by the quality of this unit. It does contain everything you need to get your solar blanket rolled up and on the reel!

This shock works completely differently than other pool shocks. When I first started using it, I had been using other shocks, both liquid and powder to get rid of a problem in my pool. They hadn't been working, but Oxy-Brite did. I have been using Oxy-Brite now for at least two years and haven't had any problems keeping my pool clear like I have had in the past. Plus, you can swim after using it without high chlorine levels like most shocks. I did not find other powdered shock and swim products worked. This worked for me.

This is the second time I have replaced this part in my pool sweep. The pool sweep is 4 years old and although the part is easy to replace it should not break down so often.
