2-2'x20' Solar Pool Heater w/ Add-On Kit Review

I got 2 of these panels - my pool is a 38ft x 54in deep. Observations:

1) Water coming out of panels is hot to the touch - it does do a good job of heating the pool - but without a cover, we loose most of the heat it generates during the day. A cover is still a must.
2) When first installed the system (using pool hose pieces and 2in couplers), the supply line hose expanded out to twice it's length - did not blow but eventually did after about a week. My inlet to the panels are ~18ft from my pump. The exit line sees no high pressure. I had to replace the supply side with the white "hot tub 2in hose" (higher pressure) - got it from Lowes.
3) The panel inlet size is really TOO small to accept a 2in hose and ALMOST too tight for a 1.5in - but with the white hot tub hose you have no choice - had to use a 2in to 1.5in coupler and a small piece of the 1.5in clear web-reinforced hose - without this the 2in would NOT crimp down to the panel inlet.
4) Water flow thru the panel system is MUCH less - thus it does not filter the water as efficiently - every 3-4 nights I open up my bypass (which is very simple to make out of PVC) - to get the water cleaned up.
5) MAKE SURE you come up with a way to hold panels down to the ground - mine almost got trashed after first storm. I just used bent re-bar into u shape and hammered into ground around the panel tubes - both ends.

This was the best purchase I have made in a long time. I have chronic back and neck pain and this sauna is an instant relief. Even if only temporary relief, I have been using it before bed and been sleeping great! It was harder to unpack it than it was to put together! Very simple to assemble and use. It will fit 4 (a bit tight) but 2 people in it makes it seem roomy. The only draw back is it seems like it is cheap material, especially the cup holders and back rest, but once assembled it is pretty sturdy. I have had this sauna for about five weeks and it is being enjoyed at least twice a day with great results by my family of 4 and other family and friends. This sauna does need a dedicated 20 Amp breaker and a appliance type outlet. Not that big of a deal if you or someone you know can run an extra line from the panel box.

Jeeves Wall Mount Electric H Curved Towel Warmer Finish: Polished Review

I purchased this heated towel bar recently and want to share my feelings with others who might consider this item. First of all, the bar heats up and works well. While it is large enough for many towels, you'll notice the manufacturer's pictures show a single towel or two very neatly folded towels on the rack. That's not likely to happen unless you and your spouse are very anal. Here's where I have gripes. The installation manual is nearly useless and the website doesn't offer much help either. One particular problem is that often the rack will be mounted on a wall that is both tile and wallboard. The manufacturer gives you no method of allowing for the difference except to say that you can use washers against the wallboard to "push" the mounting legs out. This will insure that the rack is parallel to the wall. The problem is that the washers are not covered and would look unsightly. I had this problem and had to deal with 1/2-inch height difference between the tile and the wallboard. Here's what I did and this is why the installation is so hard. I cut 1/2" from two of the mounting legs. This required me to cut 1/2" from two mounting bolts as well and the re-drill and tap two holes for set screws that are used to hold the mounting legs on nylon posts attached to the wall. Go to Amba's website and open the mounting manual to see what I am speaking of. The last difficulty is that for old construction, finding studs, in the right position to attach the nylon mounting bushings is impossible. I elected to use 1/4" toggle bolts. They worked very well, but the problem here is that the hole drilled to pass the toggle bolt through the wall is nearly the same diameter as the as the nylon mounting bushing. I solved that by placing a 1" fender washer (Ace Hardware) between the mounting bushing and the wall. Additional advice. Mount the wall power box first. Attach the mounting plate (supplied) and put the whole bar up against the wall. Level the whole thing and have an assistant draw pencil lines around the four mounting legs where they touch the wall. This way you will accurately put the mounting bushings in the correct spot. Finally, I controlled the whole thing with a seven-day GE wall timer. I have the bar turn on about an hour before I'm likely to shower. I have it stay on for 3 hours. This way the towel is not only warm when I need it, but secondly it helps dry the towel when I'm done. If you can make sense of what I've suggested, you'll have a very professional looking installation. Oh I forgot to say that you might need to cut through ceramic tile as I did, for the electrical box and two of the four mounting holes. I used a tile cutting Dremel bit available at HD, Lowes or most hardware stores. Good luck!

Aquabot AZBALERO Bolero Automatic Suction Pool Cleaner for Above-Ground and In-Ground Pools Review

There are reviews that will tell you that these vacs get stuck on the bottom drain. I have the newer style drain and I have operated this vac for over a month and it didn't get stuck anywhere. When I first set it up, it tended to only clean the deep end, however after analyzing the dynamics I realized that my 2HP pump was setting up a circular current that was driving the hose to the deep end. I redirected the jets and the problem was fixed. On further use I noticed that large leaves tend to float over the top of the skirt instead of being sucked in under it. I now use a skim-net to collect the leaves from the bottom after the vacuum is done. I took off one star for this.

Aquamate 330 Standard Skimmer Head for Swimming Pool Review

I basically like plastic skimmers because they do not bend and break the way that aluminum frame skimmers do, but it seems that most plastic skimmers are getting flimsier over time. The Aquamate 330, by contrast, is a sturdy, all plastic skimmer that works well and feels as if it might last longer than most. However, it is too soon to for me to make definitive comments on its long term durability.

The product photo shows 'Made in USA' on the wrapper, which is another reason I bought it. The one that arrived came without the plastic wrapper, and the skimmer itself did not have a stamp for the country of origin. I'm not really sure what that means for origin, but just be aware if this is important to you.

I am meticulous about my pool maintenance, so I like to use two different skimmers of this type. Note that the Aquamate 330 has a relatively coarse mesh, which is good for removing larger debris like fallen leaves, large bugs and flowers. I usually follow with a fine mesh skimmer to remove the very small bugs and particles that pass through the coarse mesh.
