Economical & Durable resin and aluminum above-ground in-pool ladder Review

The price was right but you may get what you pay for. After 15 yrs with an original ladder it finally broke at the weak point where the metel tube connects to the resin ladder. I foresee a similar fate with this ladder, although sooner. The resin ladder is thinner where the connection happens and, when climbing in and out, there is a lot of stress placed at this area. Time will tell. Since I'm aware of this area, I don't foresee adding to the stress area when getting in and out. Kids are gone now so not as much stress placed on it. All this said, I would reccommend this ladder.

This looks to be the smallest of the sand filter with pump combo in the Hayward line. It is replacing Wal-Mart cartridge filter pump for my 12'x3' pool. It comes with several connection options for plumbing. Pump has a nice strong flow. Direction could be clearer, but not difficult to put together if you have worked with pool stuff before. You assemble it by looking at included exploded diagram. I would have bought a cartridge filter system, but cost would have been exceptionally more. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

We bought our 1970's house with a 22K gallon in-ground swimming pool, at that time we even didn't know that floating duck with sunglasses is for releasing chlorine from tablets into the water. We tested our pool water at local Leslie's, the long list of needed chemicals scared us.

After talking to a friend and visited their pool, we decided to buy this product: Hayward Swimpure Pool Chlorine Generator For Pools up to 25K Gallons. The vendor is In The Swim Pool Supplies listed on Amazon.com. Upon receiving the product kit including the T-9 cell, we bought some extra stuffs from Home Depot and/or Lowe's: 2-inch PVC coupler and pipe, PVC primer and glue, 90-degree angle steel, bolts and nuts, etc. By myself, I spent the whole morning to mount the controller box over the original water circulation controller/timer, then the whole afternoon to do plumbing as a first-time plumber: learn to use PVC prime and glue, did calculation, cut the original 2" PCV pipe and put in the T-9 cell and flow switch.

According to the manual and the controller reading for initial salt ppm (we didn't buy a salt test strip or meter), our pool needs about 12-13 bags of 40-lbs salt. We bought 10 bags water softener salt, $4.39 per bag, added 9 bags (360 lbs salt) into the pool in 3-4 days, brush the pool and turn on the water circulation for longer times each day to dissolve the salt. The generator started to work!

We monitored the controller readings closely, we saw the salt ppm became stable after some days, 9 bags of salt gets a perfect 2800-3200ppm. When the chlorine is being generated, the cell voltage is about 24-25V, current is about 4A. We put the percentage control knob at about 45%, each day the timer works for 6-7 hours. After 2 weeks we tested the pool water at local Leslie's (salt water belongs to another test category, different from chroline category), the water was almost perfect, with only pH a little higher. It's said that salt water chlorine generator system will raise pool pH gradually, therefore from time to time muriatic acid is needed.

Now we see the pool water is clean and clear, no more chlorine smell that we used to shock the water. Kids enjoy the pool quite a lot in the summer. The salt water chlorine generator makes us feel so relaxed of our pool water quality, we love it and our beautiful pool.

We never need to look at the 5-gallon bucket of chlorine tablets on sale at any store. Nice switch. And it's heard that more and more new pool constructions are using salt water chlorine generators.

Approximately 1-2 pints of muriatic acid is needed biweekly to reduce the pH. Regular brush is still recommended as usual. The generator manual says every a few months the cell need to be cleaned. That's all for the maintain.

INTEX 15' x 42" Metal Frame Swimming Pool Set - 56948EB Review

We bought this pool last Memorial Day (2006) and have left it up all winter (fortunately we really don't have winter near Houston though) and it has been great. It took almost two weeks to get the chemicals/levels of the water correct and since then it has been clear with very little maintenance. We leave the pump running pretty much all the time and keep a chlorine floater in all the time and other than cleaning the filter and replacing it every few months and occasional vacuuming that's it! MUCH better than an inflatable ring pool (we had one the year before and took it down and gave it away), definitely worth a few more $. We shopped and shopped and haven't regretted this purchase at all. It's that time of year that I started shopping every year before for an inexpensive pool so hope this helps anyone looking.

Bought this pool for the grandkids. The air ring around the top constantly leaked where it was attached to the pool, so we would fill it and the next day it was flat. The pool would be 3 ft deep when we filled it, then as the air leaked out it would get out of shape and be 2 ft deep. We would find the leak, seal it and it would start leaking somewhere else. It seemed that it just wasn't sealed good where it was attached. Finally threw it away and got out the sprinkler for them to run in. Don't waste your money on this!

Kem-Tek 885-6 Vinyl Pool Patch Review

I give this vinyl pool patch 4 stars on a few reasons. The directions tell you to use the glue on the plastic patch then fold it in half. It does not explain clear enough what the reason is for. After a few minutes pull apart and attach to pool area needing repaired. Well the glue dries pretty fast then its hard to peel apart without getting messy hands. HINT: To get this product to work properly you must have something heavy ontop of it for a day or it will not work while in water!
