I used this unit for 3 years in extremely hot South GA without a single case of algae. My pool capacity was 27000 gallons. It took initially 14 bags to get the salt level right. Chlorine shock and and algecide before closing the pool at the end of the season. I open the pool while its a little cold outside and adjust chemistry to treat light algae and adjust chemistry for the summer. .

The unit will tell you when the salt level is correct. Make sure the unit is off when you add salt then wait about an hour. Undesolved salt can short the electrodes.

The other reader said pool chemistry has to be right before using the unit. This is the key to success. A chlorine system is the same way. Finally I use a copper sulphate algaecide and a bottle of First Aid (Natural ingrediemts pool water clearer)

Once a month, the unit displays that the salt level is too low. Splashing gets the salt content down a little after I add additional water. Set at 40% chlorine with pump running 8 - 12 hours. The system is so much better than chlorine !I don't use the shock feature in order to prevent early cell replacement.
