Putting this snow thrower together was an exercise in frustration. A couple of years ago, I bought a larger thrower (from a different brand) that I assembled within twenty minutes. I was expecting this machine to be about as easy to assemble, especially when the instructions claimed that the assembly time for this item is eight minutes. Not even close! It took me hours and hours over the span of about a week to get it kind of put together. I still can't figure out where a few miscellaneous screws are supposed to go, so I gave up and stuck them in a plastic bag, where they will probably stay forever.

The instructions are truly horrible, since they are very unclear in a number of places. I finally figured out that a piece that was literally jammed way up inside another piece (and thus was virtually invisible) was supposed to be inserted into a particular hole. I had a terrible time forcing the stuck piece out and then jamming it into the hole. I finally got this machine more or less assembled, though, and I decided just to go ahead and start using it instead of letting it go to waste. I'm hoping that my difficult assembly experience, including the stuck piece, is an anomaly, and no other buyers experience similar problems.

As for performance, this thrower does reasonably well with some types of snow, but it does not do everything that is claimed on the package. If you have maybe 2-4 inches of snow, you should be all right when using this thrower. If you have more than four inches, watch out. Although it supposedly handles snow that is up to six inches deep, I have not found this to be true. The thrower gets jammed and is hard to push once the snow is any higher than about four inches. It takes more effort than it's worth to try to shove this machine through five or more inches of snow.

Note: This snow thrower throws snow straight ahead only! There is no way to adjust the direction of the throwing. Although again, it supposedly is able to hurl the snow as far as twenty feet away, this is not the case with my model. It generally flings the snow maybe ten or twelve feet away. Depending on the configuration of the area you're clearing, you might need to adjust your path through the snow to avoid throwing snow in a spot that you will end up needing to clear again.

This thrower does not have wheels. You need to push it by brute force. It doesn't do too well with the heavier "wet" type of snow. It's efficient with fluffy "light" snow, though.
