This ADJUSTABLE, super strong system is a hybrid between ladder and step for ease of climbing without the obtrusiveness of a ladder. The 7 1/2in deep non-skid foot treads offer enhanced stability while the system itself only occupies a mere 22in of swimming pool space. This system is made from rugged resin that is U.V.-protected and maintenance-free. Features include double handrails for added safety, a wider walkway for easier entry and exit and non-skid treads and platforms. The outside ladder includes a self-closing gate to bar entry from small children or unauthorized swimmers. In addition, side wings protect kids from entrapment under the stairs and help prevent accidental drowning. These side wings are also slotted for better water flow and chemical distribution throughout the pool. I bought this pool ladder to replace another ladder we had purchased when we bought our pool (approx. 5 years ago). I like that it has a slim profile on both sides and that it has actual steps on both sides. If you are tight on space, I recommend this ladder for above ground pools. It also has a swinging gate that automatically shuts. My 2 complaints are that the steps themselves are pretty narrow, so you have to be careful and because the gate is ALWAYS closed, we noticed they tend to mildew quickly. I also find it hard to get out of the pool because you have to stand on the landing and lean over to unlatch the gate before you can climb down. I wish the gate had the option to stay open if you wanted it to stay open.
