Double Duty Folding Vehicle Shovel Review

I was recently given this shovel as a gift, and during my first time using the shovel the reverse handle broke.

I was using the shovel during a recent winter storm and I needed to use it to clean out some snow. While making use of the Reverse Handle feature for removing deep snow the plastic handle/joint broke on me.

Before the reverse handle/joint broke, the deep snow removal feature was working really well. It really made moving a bunch of snow at once easier. However, the plastic joint/handle appears to have failed due to a thin spot in molded plastic and not being built strong enough to handle the heavy snow.

The shovel feature is still usable and I will continue to use it as a collapsible shovel for my car, but i was disappointed that the other feature broke so easily. I will be contacting company to see if the defective part can be replaced.

My recommendation to the company is to make the joint/handle out of metal and sell it for more as it is a great feature, but if it breaks on first use then people will never want to buy it.

I got a response back from the company, and basically said that they were sorry that I had the problem and I should take it back to the store where it was purchased to have them help me.

It is kind of hard to take something back to a store when it was a gift so I don't know the store to take it back or have a receipt.

While the features of this shovel are nice, I would not relying on the handle lasting very long. So I would recommend for that reason not to purchase this item even though I will still give it an "It's OK" rating.
