Filter tank is constructed of Perma Glass XL, a glass reinforced copolymer, for the ultimate in strength, durability and long life. The filter features a "service-ease" design that boasts a heavy-duty, tamper-proof clamping system that allows for quick access to the filter grids for easy cleaning - all without disturbing piping or connections. It comes complete with a combination pressure and cleaning cycle indicator gauge, manual air relief, high-impact grid elements designed for up-flow filtration and top-down backwashing for maximum efficiency. The Delivery was VERY FAST, great service. We have been using the Hayward Pro-Grid Vertical Grid 23 DE filter for several months. It is doing a great job and the pool is CRYSTAL clear, much better than it did with a sand filter.
I enjoy having the same type multi-port valve we had with the sand filter as I find the various settings very convenient. If we have a lot of rain like we did last year it was easy to blow
water out of the pool with the waste setting rather than siphoning. Also if the pool is very dirty as our was this year when we opened (no fault of the filter, it was not installed yet) it is very handy to
vacuum out to waste. I think it was raining mud last year! When we opened as I said it was a pretty tough clean up this spring and once the filter was up and running it did a great job other than having to back flush and
recharge with DE a few times (to be expected with a very dirty pool) it has been running without any problems and without the need for a recharge for quite awhile now. We are pleased with our purchase
and how the pool looks now that the new filter is installed and running. I believe part of the hard clean up we had this spring (again, the new filter was not installed until we opened the pool this spring) was
the malfunctioning filter we had before may have left a lot of suspended material in the pool, we had like 20 inches of extra rainfall September to January and I was having a problem with Phosphates last year.
I suspect the ZEO crap sand in the old sand filter may have contributed phosphates or perhaps it was indeed raining mud! In any case, no problems with any cloudiness, phosphates or any other problems with this new filter
once we got the junk left over from the old filter cleaned up.
I may review this filter again in a year or so.

UPDATE 2013,
End of season 2013, this filter kept the pool so you could read a penny on the deep end bottom if your vision is excellent ALL SUMMER. Clear as crystal, after the initial cleanup we only backflushed and added DE once, no other maintenance required. Very frugal with chlorine and chemicals and I am running a 3/4 instead of full 1 horsepower
motor and I am only running that five hours a day vs near 18 hours with the sand filter for our 20K gallon pool. Saving many $$ on electric and the water is crystal!! I'm LOVING this filter!!
