I emphasize Thrower. This machine has performed flawlessly and as expected. I purchased this machine last fall to replace a single stage and older craftsman 2 stage blower with something more powerful after the groundhogs day blizzard of 2011 in Chicago. I did not want to get caught with unprepared. 2012 winter was mild so did not really get to test the machine. 2013 has stated off slow until now. First test this week on 6" of wet, slushy mix and it performed without skipping a beat. The heavy wet stuff on the end of the driveway deposited by the plows were no match for the 24" deluxe snow thrower. I was able to cut through 20" of plow build up to cut a couple of paths to the bus stop for the kids to safely get on and off the bus. The electric start worked on first press. The hand pull start also started with 1 max 2 pulls. The hand controls worked fine and I especially like the two lever lock that allows you to lock the auger and transmission freeing up your right hand to control the shoot. The auger and the engine are very powerful and threw heavy wet snow over my parked SUV on the driveway without a blink. Variable speeds make it easy to work at your pace and the reverse gear comes in handy to maneuver narrow paths. I kept both wheels locked as it's not too hard to hard to turn the machine while it is in low gear.

Ok, this machine is big and powerful ie heavy. It is tough to turn. I don't know if my wife would be able to manage, she is on the petite side. Walking straight lines, she would be fine. Turning wide path at the end of driveway fine. But turning it when not in gear could be a challenge.

After 1 year I am very pleased with this machine. I no longer need to fear a Chicago winter and am prepared for what ever I wake up to in the morning. This machines screams "bring it on".
