BADU® ECO M3 greatly reduces the operating costs on pools from 10,000 to 25,000 gallons. The pump offers three speeds: high, medium, and low. Now you can use the most cost efficient speed for the job at hand.

Energy usage is greatly reduced by this pump’s ability to clean your entire pool on low speed at a maximum power consumption of 160 Watts per hour. At high speed, the maximum power consumption is 1200 Watts per hour. High speed pumps can turn over your water faster, but at a tremendous energy cost due to the added friction in your system. At lower speed, your pump pushes less water through your system, creating less restriction and more efficiency.

Use the Medium and High Speed Functions when you need a boost to your system. The high speed setting provides the power needed for backwashing and for running automatic cleaners. The medium speed setting is sufficient to give the extra boost needed for suction cleaners that work through your skimmer and for circulating the water faster during heavy bather loads. After 2 hours at high or medium speed, the BADU® ECO M3 automatically defaults to the lowest speed, saving energy and money. You don’t have to worry about forgetting to change the speed back after boosting the power.

I installed my Speck Eco M3 yesterday to replace a 2.0hp single speed pump and the new pump is unbelievably efficient compared to the old pump. The water flow on high is the same as the 2hp pump. I was pulling 7.5A at 246vac (1845 watts) with the old pump and DE filter and the new pump only draws 3.9A or 959 watts on high speed with a new Hayward C1200 cartridge filter. The nice thing about the Eco M3 is that you run it on low speed for longer and this thing only pulls .4A or an astounding 98.4 watts! I plan on running the pump on low for six hours a day to see if it is enough to keep my pool in balance. If so, the Eco M3 is gonna save me over 230kwh a month or about $23 at San Antonio electricity rates (only 10 cents/kwh with wind premium added in). Amazing!

I own a Nissan Leaf and we drive about 30 miles a day and it uses about 6kwh per day on average. The Speck Eco M3 pump will save us enough electricity to charge up the car for "free". The old pumps were using 3100kwh a year and let us just say that I am a conservative user of pool pumps. I don't run the pump in Jan, Feb, and March due to the water temp being below 70 degrees. I also run the pump at the ragged edge of "not enough" to conserve electricity.
